Meet Amanda Tucker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Tucker.

Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been that person who takes out their phone to take a picture! Whether it’s a selfie, a random cute dog I see when I’m out and about, or dinner (my husband hates when I do this). It wasn’t until 2017 that I really considered getting into photography, I honestly was trying to put it off as long as I could, but my husband had something else in mind. I remember we were at dinner one night and my husband told me he bought me a camera to start my own photography business, I was so happy! You ask can him, I was crying (happy tears of course) and he told me “now you have to go for it'”. After that, I shot some practice sessions of friends and some family to help me build up a portfolio. In September 2018 I got to shoot my first wedding, now into 2019 I’ve been able to capture three other weddings and I have three more coming up. No words to describe how much I love what I do!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was really hard just putting myself out there for people to see, I’m actually a quiet person most of the time who only talks to people I know personally. I’m also a perfectionist and can be very hard on myself, being a photographer has really taught me that it’s all about living in the moment and capturing everything in between! Yes for specific sessions and weddings there are requests made especially by my clients, but I try to go above and beyond every time and capture a moment they’ll look back and be like “hey, I would’ve never thought of that!” Other than that I can’t complain, it’s still very surreal that I’m able to do what I love and to make people happy when they see their photos.

Please tell us about Amanda Tucker Photography.
Amanda Tucker Photography started in December of 2017, I’m the primary photographer but my amazing husband is my 2nd shooter when it comes to weddings. What am I known for? For capturing genuine feelings in my client’s photos, they’re natural models. When my clients look back on their photos, they can truly relive that one moment or special day. I specialize in mostly weddings and couples at the moment, but I also do families, maternity, and senior sessions. I’m proud of how far I’ve progressed since I began this journey, I was editing a wedding album one night and got emotional because it’s just an amazing feeling to know people entrust in me with this privilege.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If anything don’t be serious all the time and pursue a photography career a lot sooner than I did!
