Meet Prin Duffy of Royalty ilashes in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prin Duffy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Prin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It has always been my goal to start my own business. I did not know what or how. Finally, in January 2016; my husband and I were talking and I stated to him “I’m ready, I want to be my own boss!” I still wasn’t sure of what I was planning on doing, but it was going to be something. February 2016, I stumbled across a Facebook post from Octavia (owner of Wink Out Loud). She was offering lash training classes. I immediately reached out to her to inquire. I signed up and started my lash training in March 2016. Once I completed my training session and was certified, I stated to my husband and mom “this is it”!

I immediately began to practice on family and friends. Two months later, I was offered the opportunity to work full-time at a beauty bar to install lash extensions. I was hesitant at first and excited to start this new venture at the same time! My husband gave me confirmation to go for it. Here I am, working as a full-time employee at JP Morgan Chase. How can I accomplish this new venture in the beauty industry to be my own boss and still maintain working in a career that I wasn’t pleased to be in. I attempted to work at JP Morgan Chase and doing lash extensions in the evenings and weekends. Now, I’m working seven days a week (practically all day) plus being a wife and mother. I began to lose focus on my job. I was more focused on building a client base, client relationships, and building a brand for my new-found career. I was so happy, motivated, excited, and really enjoying my new career until I was neglecting JP Morgan Chase. In December 2016, I finally said goodbye to JP Morgan Chase. Thanks to my husband… he said: “just quit”. That was the best decision I have ever made in my life!

I must admit that I had a lack of faith and I was very nervous and scared. The road could have been harder, but I had great support. January 2017, I became a full-time Lash Artist. It was a challenge but I kept pushing, trying new marketing strategies to build my clientele. September 2017, I was faced with another great opportunity, which was to work at Treasure Chest Beauty Studio. I really enjoyed working there and I learned a lot. This was a totally different experience than working from the first salon. I was really able to build my brand, clientele and gain the knowledge in beauty industry that I needed. I was there one year and decided to open my own salon. I thank God for the opportunity and for everything he has blessed me with. With such great honor, I can now announce that my salon has been open since October of 2018 and I have three great Lash Artists working with me who delivers the same type of personable service as I.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This transition hasn’t been easy. One of the biggest issues I’ve encountered is finding my balance. It was a bit of a challenge being a great wife and mom while working crazy hours building my brand. Now that I have found my balance, it has been smooth sailing.
