Meet Trailblazer Jade Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Rogers.

Jade, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was a young girl, I caught a cold and had to stay home from school. My grandfather said to me “Place your hands on your chest and declare that you are healed. God gave us the capability to speak healing over ourselves.” From that day on, I believed I could not only heal myself but others as well. Over the years, I always found joy in helping others.

I graduated high school as a certified nursing assistant and went on to Grambling State University as a nursing major. After my first semester, I realized nursing was not the field for me! I became a history major but had begun to study holistic healing on my own. I had started learning about energy, chakras, and crystals.

In late Fall of 2016, I decided to withdraw from Grambling and moved to Texas. I attended the Reiki 1 attunement and certification course at the Pan African Connection Bookstore held by Dr. Akua Grey (A Life of Peace Wellness Education Institute). After experiencing Reiki, which is a form of energy healing, I realized that my purpose on Earth is to HEAL. A few months later, I was attuned in Reiki 2, a more advanced level of energy healing.

I started massage therapy school in Jan 2018 and graduated in August 2018. While in school, I would provide FREE chair massage services w/ the purchase of Reflexology at the Bree Moore Productions monthly (3rd Sunday’s)’Closet Sale’ at Buzz Brew’s located in Deep Ellum. To this day, I vend regularly at the Closet Sale. After completing my schooling, I worked for Innate Medical Solutions Chiropractic Care and on Jan 1 of this year, I became a full-time entrepreneur.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey has definitely been a rocky road. Halfway through my program, I chose to quit my job as a server at Waffle House to focus on school. It was difficult financially, however, I’m grateful to have a significant other who was not only supportive of my dreams but moved heaven and earth to make sure I had what I needed to stay focused. There would be days where I wanted to give up or quit but with the support at home, as well as, my instructors, staff, and classmates at Cortiva, I kept pushing!

My advice to other women would be to never give up on yourself! Visualize yourself crossing the finish line and feel that feeling of coming in first place. Write down your goals and positive affirmations to keep yourself motivated.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a licensed massage therapist but my “job title” is a therapeutic wellness practitioner. In the black community, most people see massage as a luxury, but I promote my practice as a form of restorative and preventative health care.

Never Jaded Wellness is a holistic wellness practice, which means our approach to wellness focuses on the mind-body-spirit relationship. I incorporate stretches in my massages and give my clients stretches to do at home themselves. Additionally, all massages are Reiki infused, so not only is the client receiving physical relief but energetic relief as well. With the use of various crystal and sound healing, the client experiences peace and healing on all level: physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. One of the things that sets my practice apart is that CLIENT AWARENESS is one of the cornerstones of the entire practice. By educating my clients on natural and holistic ways to improve their health daily, they are able to take responsibility for their own wellness.

NJW is home of the Everday is Mother’s Day & Everyday is Father’s Day Massage Special. This year-round special is a token of love to those mothers and fathers around the world who are parents 24/7, 365 days a year.

As a service provider, I most proud of the fact that after a session with me, my clients feel an immediate difference in their minds, bodies, and spirits. Being able to make a positive impact on a person’s life in a short amount of time is amazing!

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
