Meet Jessica and Chris Milam of Fur Services Fur Pets

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica and Chris Milam.

Jessica and Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started Fur Services Fur Pets in 2013 with a desire to provide experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate pet care to pet families in our neighborhood of Savannah. I had a background working for boarding and daycare facilities, had worked with and fostered for rescue and knew that pets were my passion!

We were so successful in taking care of neighborhood pet families that we started to expand our territory just slightly to included neighborhoods that surrounded us and in 2016, my husband Chris, left his job to become our first full-time pet sitter! During this time, we shifted our focus from providing in-expensive pet care to really focusing on our Vision of “Providing High-Quality, Educated Pet Care that Exceeds Client Expectations.”

As we continued to educate ourselves, establish professional pet care routines, habits and procedures, we started expanding our territory and adding new members to our pet care team with the goal of serving and caring for more pet parents and their pets!

Today we have an incredible, passionate team of pet sitters that both love pets and love learning more about pets!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is never smooth sailing! As we expanded our territories we have continued to struggle with making sure we are able to properly care for pets that are further out from our “home base” and that we hire team members that embody trust, passion, a zeal for continuing to learn and could uphold the same standards that we hold ourselves too – and that our customers have come to expect! What a lot of people don’t understand is that a love of pets simply isn’t enough!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fur Services Fur Pets – what should we know?
We are a premier pet sitting and dog walking company! We provide drop-in visits throughout the day while pet owners are at work, gone for longs days or out of town for business or pleasure!

Our clients gone for long days (whether at work, school or enjoying time around town) have us come in for Mid-Day Potty & Play Breaks and Dog Walking. We also do a lot of Dog Walking for active dogs that need more activity and exercise than their pet parent might have time to give!

For clients that travel for business or vacation, we come in to provide love, potty breaks, play and meals throughout their travel dates! Our Pet Sitting visits are what we founded our company on and continue to be our most popular service!

For pets that need a little more time and attention, we offer Overnight Pet Care which brings our team into their home to cuddle, play, feed and hang out all night long! For pets that need a little more attention than regular drop-in visits, but don’t need Overnights, we also offer an Almost Overnight service where we spend a couple hours at bedtime and an hour in the morning spoiling the family’s pets!

We are known for being professional, educated, and providing excellence in all of our offerings! Our team is really what sets us apart, without an incredible, loving and caring team, we couldn’t be who we are or where we are!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think one of the characteristics that set us apart the most is our flexibility. Our Motto is that “Life happens; that’s why we are here.” We really embody this – whether you have to run to work last minute on your day off, have a death or family emergency bringing you out of town at a moment’s notice or are sick and staying home – we adjust to what happens in your life without adding any additional fees, penalties or guilt!

I think the other characteristic that really sets us apart is our desire to create the absolute best customer experience and service in our industry! We are constantly finding ways to let pets and their parents know that they are SO incredibly important to us and are really part of our extended families!
