Meet Nicolette Chavez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolette Chavez.

Nicolette, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas alongside my amazing brother and two hardworking parents. El Paso is what I call a small but big city. I grew up with the city as it started from a dessert to a few communities and a couple of schools to now a full-blown city and an expanding military base. I grew up always seeking adventure so after high school, I fled the nest and headed to College Station, Texas. I was an Aggie for about 2 and a half years before transferring to The University of Texas at Arlington where I graduated with a Bachelors in Health and Innovations. During my college time, I found that I loved to model and dance during my free time when my face wasn’t stuck in a book.

Modeling started off as a hobby for me and now it’s becoming so much more. I plan to get signed with an agency within the next year or so when I feel that my portfolio has reached its fullest potential. Modeling helps me escape my world for a bit and just in a sense “be free”. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. Growing up I was always told that I should model but never really thought much of it, until my very first shoot. I left the shoot glowing in such a way that I never have before and that’s when I knew I struck gold. Im currently looking for a career in my background as well as seeking modeling opportunities. I hope to soon be able to try out for a pro dance team as well! Let’s just say I have a lot going for me and I couldn’t be happier!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My road has been anything but smooth! I always seem to set this life plan for myself to help keep me grounded; however, my life seems to have a mind of its own. I am a firm believer in learning from my mistakes because I have made a lot of them. The mistakes I have made have brought me to where I am today and have formed me into the woman I am. I don’t regret any of my past choices because I wouldn’t be where I am without doing so. Moving away from home was a huge struggle for me. It was a culture shock, and lonely all in one. I resented my parents at first for forcing me to leave home but now I understand why they did and I’m so grateful for it. Even if my life doesn’t go as planned, I continue to push and succeed in anything that I do!

Please tell us about Nicolette Chavez.
I do not own a business however I currently work at David’s Bridal as a dress specialist, a brand ambassador for Ben E. Keith, and I just started up as a cocktail waitress at The Henry. Yes I know, I work many jobs but I love it. I have met some amazing people in doing so and who doesn’t love to make money! I do not like being home all day having nothing to do when I can be out at working making income and learning. I am the type of person that stays hungry and if my three jobs doesn’t show you that, then I’ve failed. However once I get my career going my focus will be 120% on that and my many jobs will have to go, but until then this is my happy working life!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had an opportunity to start my life over, I wouldn’t necessarily change much about it; the only thing I would do is push my self a little more. I have always been adventurous and outgoing but when it came to opportunities I would sometimes “play it safe”. I did a lot of growing up but I probably could have done a whole lot more if I would have just not second-guessed anything and went for it.
