Meet Trailblazer Megan Saustad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Saustad.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Megan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have spent most of my adult life in the fashion industry, mostly as a fashion stylist. In 2018, after careful thought and prayer, I decided to start my own fashion and lifestyle blog. This is a place where I can fuse my love of fashion and beauty and connect with women through a far greater reach. My goal is to empower women to look and feel their best. I also share health and fitness tips, travel destinations and gift guides for special events or holidays.

The goal is for my blog to be a valuable resource for women at all times.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been smooth. There is a huge learning curve to social media channels like Instagram, especially with the changes in the algorithm. I am one of the ‘older’ influencers in a very young industry. My advice is to stay true to who you are and not compare yourself to others. It can be a very hard industry if you do start to compare. Work hard and work smart.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the creator of ‘Truly Megan’, a Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle blog. My style is classic with an edgy twist. My blog publishes 2-3 times per week and carries content relating to fashion, beauty, travel, health, fitness, and seasonal gift guides.

Prior to starting my blog, I was a stylist and helped women dress for all occasions.

I am most proud of my fast track and how quickly my blog and social media followings have grown. I think it is because I strive to consistently provide relevant content that is useful and interesting. I often hear comments from my readers that my style is wearable and relatable.

Staying true to my style and my aesthetic, and showing women that you can age gracefully continues to set me apart in an industry dominated by very young influencers.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I always suggest finding a mentor no matter what line of work you are in. I have learned so much from friends who started in the ‘influencer’ industry years before me. They have been a huge source of information for me and fed me great nuggets of information along the way. Networking with other bloggers, joining online groups, listening to podcasts and seeking out as much information as possible will only make you more successful.
