Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Trejo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am the daughter of a single mother. I was born and raised in Mexico, I moved to Texas when I was 12 years old. I started working my sophomore year of high school and graduated from Trimble Tech in 2010. I went to TCC for my basics and transfer to UNT and graduated in 2015. While I was interring at Enterprise rent-a-car and a representative for a network marketing company, I knew I wanted to pursue a career on helping people. While I was living in Austin, I decided to get my real estate license the corporate world was great to me and thought me many skills that I believe separates me from most realtors. I wanted to sell something that brought more fulfillment to my life. Buying a house is a huge accomplishment for many people and the excitement on my client’s face when they get the keys to their new home is priceless. I will be lying if I say it was easy, it’s not but thanks to seeing my mother working day in and day out, I learned at an early age to work hard, adapt to change and always strive higher.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not. One of the biggest struggles I had to deal with was moving to Texas. While I was in ESL classes, I remembered kids labeling my friend and me as “the language center girls.” Our science teacher telling us she knew we weren’t going to be successful because we kept to ourselves. While I was in college, money was tight, I had to work two jobs while I was at TCC, it was even more draining when I transfer to UNT, I remember waking up in the morning not remembering when was the last time I slept in. It was so bad that I had to go donate plasma to buy groceries for the week.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I help people find the right home in the DFW area. I specialize in listing and fist home buyers. I am known for working fast and always going above and beyond for my clients. I am very hands-on, unlike most realtors, I will drive around the whole metroplex to make sure my clients are taken care of in a timely manner. I am proud to say that I close seven transactions my first year, average realtors close 2-3 and more than 80% of them quit their first year. I believe what sets me apart is that I actually care for my clients, I don’t see them as a number or dollar signs. I’m not in this business for the quick sale, I’m in it to build relationships.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I eventually want to build and coach my own team. I am a huge advocate of personal development and will love to one day, coach people.
