Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlene Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been interested in skincare since I was a young child. I would watch my mother go through her skincare routine and ask her so many questions to why she was putting on certain creams and serums. My favorite part of her skincare routine was her homemade masks. She would let my sister and I do the masks with her and ever since then I have been hooked. I always wanted to go to beauty school but decided to try out college first. After taking a few classes, I realized college was not for me. I, then, went to work full time for a dental office. During my time in the dental industry, I wanted to go to esthetics school but under my circumstances, I had to work full time and had to wait. In 2016, I had the opportunity to go to esthetics school full time. I graduated in esthetics school in July 2017 and was licensed by the beginning of August. That same month, I opened the Meraki Beauty and Skin Bar. My career is just getting started but in this short time, I have taken numerous classes to advance myself with knowledge of skincare. I am excited to see where this career path will take me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Skincare has come very easy to me since it was something I have had a passion for most of my life. What has been challenging is keeping up with the “new” in skincare and the different trends. I find myself researching different products and techniques and taking classes to keep up with the fast-changing skincare industry. I have had a few other obstacles through my journey in becoming an esthetician from working full time and being a parent, I had to put the esthetics path on hold. When the perfect window opened up for me to go to esthetics school, I did not hesitate. I worked part-time during the day and went to esthetics school at night. While on that routine, I was starting to get burnt out so I then decided I needed to finish school faster and that is when I went to school full time. Once graduating, I decided to open my own spa. I had found what I thought at the time to be a perfect building and location. I started the renovation process for my spa and after about six months of renovations, the renovating fell through. Although I was disappointed, I didn’t let that stop me. I started doing mobile spa services. I found that traveling to do services was a lot more than I could handle. A year of traveling, I made the decision to find a suite. I have settled into my suite for about four months now and it has been great.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Fort Worth and how it has changed so much over the years. I love how diverse it is and how to open Fort Worth is with culture. There is not one thing I can say I disliked about our city. This is the city to be in.
