Meet Lordie Busari of Busari Wear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lordie Busari.

Lordie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began as a kid born in Nigeria who was raised to be a businessman through and through by My father. At my young age of 12, I was told I was going to be moving to America, for good. When I arrived here, I wasn’t all too familiar with the music culture and art culture as my childhood was geared around books and school I wasn’t even allowed to watch MTV or anything with pop culture involved.

As soon as I arrived and got familiar with the scene I fell in love with everything. The energy, the love, the arts, and especially Fashion. I fell in love with Fashion when I was 13 years old and have never looked back. At the age of 18, I started to want to make my own clothes and be able to have a say in what was not only hot and trendy but also what was thoughtful yet innovative design. Learning design was something I taught myself and I still have a long ways to go but I’m proud of my journey. The ups and downs, frustrations, happy moments, sad they’re all continuously shaping me into the creative I should be. Busari Wear is a necessity for the world of fashion and I’m here to prove it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. When I first officially selling clothes everyone gravitated towards to it, which I’m very grateful for. However I quickly discovered it was more than nice designs, there’s marketing, shipping, fulfillment, things that one wouldn’t know at first glance are all a necessity to have when running an online store. Manufacturing efficiency and finding a solid manufacturer was my biggest problem but I’m glad those days are behind me and I look forward to the new challenges and finding new ways to overcome.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Busari Wear is a luxury streetwear brand. We specialize in mixing cultural nuances with versatility. Versatility in that most of our pieces are unisex. I am the CEO and Head Designer of Busari Wear. As a company I’m most proud of progression, looking back to before I started I’m glad I took the first step. Busari Wear is very different because our designs are designs you cannot find anywhere and that’s a guarantee. We push to find new spaces and new lanes that haven’t been explored so that we may blaze the trail for others who wish to do the same.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very troublesome, which played a positive role once I learned self-control because it turned into relentlessness in my ambitions. As a kid, I was also very outgoing, I loved making friends and laughing with others. I was always interested in the irregular, I always as a kid tried to find the irregularities in life because I felt like I was irregular— in a positive sense of course. These same philosophies follow me in my everyday life.
