Meet Jada Mullins of Savvy Nevaeh in Duncanville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Mullins.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jada. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My granddad had his own women’s clothing line called “House of George”. My dad was labeled best dress in high school and my Gmomma (Grandma) is an overall queen diva so I guess you can say the talent was inherited. The overall business and my brand all started mid-2015, in the process of me graduating high school. I was always into fashion and recreating looks but honestly cared so much about what other people had to say especially in high school.

So after I graduated, I was able to show my inner style without having judgemental eyes surrounding me. My friends and I used to go out every weekend and each weekend I created a new outfit. My outfits got so many compliments. It made me realize I should’ve been showing my creativity a long time ago. It also gave me the confidence and courage I needed to eventually start my own clothing line called “Savvy Nevaeh”. No other opinions doesn’t phase me anymore because I genuinely fell in love with fashion and my brand that there is really nothing anybody can say to me at this point. How I got to where I am today is a good question because I am not at all where I want to be but I would say by putting in that hard work and dedication and consistency into something that I adore and love is really its own success. I feel as if you have to want it as much as you want to breathe and then there will be no doubt that success won’t follow you.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur is never easy and I think that is what separates us from the rest because we are willing to fall and have struggles along the way but in the end, we know everything will work out for the best. In generality, you never really have full control of your own life. God always has a plan before you even tell him your plan. I think that was one of my struggles building my brand. I always had what I thought was the perfect plan until God showed me different. Another struggle I,still till this day, have is patience. I want things to happen on my time but of course, it never works out that way. I believe I’ve gotten a little better at allowing my time to flow thoroughly by using “Smart Goals”.

Smart is an acronym that can be used to help evaluate and add structure to your goal. Smart stands for:
Specific – state specifically what it is that needs to be done
Measurable – provide a way to evaluate
Actionable – Is it realistically possible to accomplish?
Relevant – Does it improve your business in any way?
Time – Give yourself enough time/ a reasonable deadline to meet.

If my goals or projects at the moment do not contain this theory than I know its most likely not going to work or it’s just going to be harder to accomplish.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Savvy Nevaeh – what should we know?
Savvy Nevaeh is an online clothing boutique. Every item created is custom made by yours truly. No factory or manufacturer. Everything is made to order. I wanted to have each item custom made because I didn’t want anything I sale to have a replica from any other boutique. Another aspect that sets Savvy Nevaeh apart from the rest is that each outfit is made with Spandex material meaning its very stretchy so all shapes and sizes can fit and wear it comfortably. I eventually want to expand my knowledge with using other materials and fabrics in the future but I know that will take time. I am a self-taught fashion designer. I have never took any classes or had a teacher teach me anything I know. I mainly learn from trial and error and YouTube, of course and the rest is history.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel to be a fashion designer or even an entrepreneur you need a lot of patience and faith. Everything happens with time. I, personally have been designing for what’s about to be four years and I, sometimes feel as if I’m just now starting. Yes, I’ve learned so much from when I first started but of course, there is so much that I need to know. I’m so open for new knowledge though. The characteristics that are most important to my business are of course, the ability to sew. To be an innovative creator and have creative fashion sense. To have patience, motivation, confidence, an out of this world imagination, dedication, enthusiasm. To be reliable and most important to have Faith.
