Meet Haley Smith of Slayley Marie in Oak Lawn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Smith.

Haley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been an introvert, however, moving away from my hometown forced me to break out of my shell to try new things and meet new people. Through that process, I learned that I have a gift to make people feel comfortable and heard and that people are able to relate to me through sharing my story. I began sharing different parts of my life through social media including my fitness journey, my struggle with acne, balancing my roles as a full-time Financial Analyst and a full-time student, my travel experiences, and a bunch of other things. I’ve been able to build a small community through my authenticity and sharing my faith through life’s disappointments as well as life’s high points.

Has it been a smooth road?
Overall, I would say that it has been a smooth road. I tend to be annoyingly optimistic so with that in consideration, I will say that whenever you dare to take on a new role or try something new, there will be some negative discourse and there will be a lot of opinions. That has been the most difficult part for me is to tune out the naysayers, but I receive much more support than any negativity and I’m extremely grateful for that.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Slayley Marie – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My brand is all about authenticity, self-love, and embracing everything that life throws at you with a growth mindset. I believe in celebration and collaboration over comparison and competition. I’ve had the opportunity to work with several brands and to collaborate with amazing women business owners to highlight the different ways that they are using their talents and passions to impact their communities. I’m most proud of the relationships that I’ve built and the women that I’ve been able to inspire through my platform. I think that what sets me apart is that my audience can trust anything that I share with them is something I believe in. I am very selective about the brands that I work with and I wouldn’t just share something with them because I was paid to do so.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that there is something for everyone in Dallas. Whatever you’re into, whatever you’re in the mood for, you can find it if you know where to look and who to ask. I love how collaborative Dallas is as well. I’ve been blessed to meet some amazing individuals who genuinely want to see others win and it’s so refreshing to be a part of a community like that. My least favorite thing about Dallas would be the traffic for sure, but that’s a small sacrifice for all of the benefits of living in Dallas!
