Today we’d like to introduce you to Porschea Dixson.
Porschea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’d like to think my lifestyle/career choose me at a young age; I’ve never been one for sports or sitting in an office for hours having someone tell me what to do and when to do it. At the age of 11 (I believe)I told my stylist I was going to be a hairstylist when I grow up. I remember sitting in my room playing “salon” with my doll teaching my self how to do a cornrow, I could only do one side of the dolls head, and that braid looked a mess but I was so excited about that braid. I found my first sewing machine in our garage when I was about 14, took it to my room, and taught myself how to use it. I started DIYing looks for myself and friends, I took sewing classes in high school, and I was enrolled in cosmetology in 10th grade.
To this day I’m doing everything I’ve ever planned, I’ve been a hairstylist for ten years, and I’ve had my fashion degree since 2014, hair and fashion definitely choose me and I’m sooooo grateful GOD blessed me with these gifts.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Always second-guessing and overthinking everything I do, time management, funding, creative funks, the list can go on and on but no matter the obstacle, if you understand that it’s part of the journey and you can overcome them and grow from them, they go from obstacles to lessons.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Porschea Lasha/The Goddess Hair Lounge – what should we know?
Porshea Lasha is a made to order plus size fashion brand focused on giving plus size women high quality, high fashion garments for their wardrobe. PL customizes garments for ever occasion ( bridal parties, wedding gowns, birthdays, prom, homecoming, baby showers, any special event).
One of my proudest moments so far has to be creating dream prom gowns for my high school clients. They loved the design experience they received and their gowns so much that mom booked for 2020 prom already.
The Goddess Hair Lounge is a full-service salon that caters to our client’s scalp and hair to ensure optimal growth and health. Each client receives a specialized regimen for home care and salon maintenance, I believe hair is a great investment, but damaged hair is a greater investment, understanding this has really changed my client’s hair and the way they think of the hair salon. We specialize in educating our clients, real hair care, healthy hair, sewin extensions, micro link extensions, silk presses, color, and custom service.
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to work my business for over a decade, and I’m still going no matter how many times I’ve wanted to quit hair.
What sets my businesses from others is simple MY FAITH, although I have times were I’m unsure I know because of my faith I can do all things!
