Today we’d like to introduce you to Mook Wilson.
Mook, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started designing my own clothes last year, I got tired of not finding what I wanted in stores and didn’t like that a Designer T-shirt cost $35/$50 depending on the brand. I actually came up with Guided By Loyalty from a tattoo on my arm that says “Guided By Faith.” The other courage and wisdom! I replace Faith with Loyalty, Loyalty before royalty, you can never go wrong!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, the road hasn’t been so smooth but it also hasn’t been rough. We all have good and bad days just never let the bad outdo the good and always strive for the best!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Guided By Loyalty Clothing story. Tell us more about the business.
I started Gbl in February 2018, I just got laid off my job and I had money saved up the whole time I was working. I took all I had saved and bought all the equipment I needed to start my business. Our clothes are Urban/Streetwear style, shoes and slides are made with great quality, nice style and very comfortable!
My brand also makes paint custom clothing, T-shirts, Denim Jackets, Denim Jeans, cups, Hats, and etc. We also help people get their brand started, show them a few ropes and help bring their vision to light!
Every other Tuesday and Thursday, I take the time to feed the homeless. You can never forget about the people that’s struggling, it’s hard out here for us all.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Both good and bad luck. My bad never outweighed the good. When it’s just you, things take a little longer but I’m humble and learn from every mistake which helps make me better!
