So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been in love with anything beauty related. I remember getting in big trouble when I was younger for taking my Mom’s makeup to school. First, I started working on my own makeup to learn different techniques, and how to get a flawless application. From there, I realized that I was scared to do makeup on others because I hadn’t touched anyone else’s face. At that point, I knew I had to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I got worked at Macy’s at a cosmetic counter, and that really opened up my makeup world. I learned to do makeup on all skin tones, types, textures, etc. Macy’s is where I built my confidence. From there, I became counter manager, and after a bit, I realized I wanted, no NEEDED, to work for myself! That is when I started building my brand from the ground up. I started freelancing, and once the travel started effecting my appointments, I started working from home. My clientele continued to grow, and I was able to share a salon space with a long-time friend. This was my first BIG step into solidifying ToyWithTheGlam. My clientele grew even more, and that’s when I found myself at my new home Glam Beauty in Pflugerville. I have creative freedom, and I work with an amazing team!
Has it been a smooth road?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! It’s hard work. Building a business & a brand is a 24/7 job. There’s really no days off, and your grind has to match that. There are times when I literally have to put everything on hold and just focus on me. my partner, the simple things in life. It’s a struggle because you always have an email, message, inquiry, phone call, etc. You just have to find the perfect balance in work & your personal life. I’m always working on perfecting techniques, learning new ones, keeping up with products & launches, updating my website, etc. Now, I have my new venture LuxMe Lashes, my luxury lash line. I literally work until I’m exhausted sometimes! Don’t be like me! Lol.

ToyWithTheGlam Makeup Artistry is fun! It’s high glam with a pop! It’s anything you want & need. It can be bright, bold, sultry, animated, natural, glittery. It’s whatever you need for any occasion. I specialize in providing high-quality makeup application services, selling luxury lashes, tutorials, and assisted shopping. I’m most known for highlight! No matter where you see me, if my makeup is done, you’ll see my highlight first! I’ll always have on a pair of LuxMe Lashes, and flawless complexion. I’m proud that I am able to provide look for everyone from supernatural to neon & glitter. My skills don’t leave anyone out! I think my ability to mix high glam looks, with fierce looks sets me apart! I want my clients to be gorgeous, but I also want them to be the center of attention in ANY room they enter.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m born & raised in Austin and spent a lot of time in Houston since that’s where the majority of my family lives. The thing I love about Austin is the people. There’s so many different backgrounds, stories, experiences, and they all come to sit in my chair and share that with me. I’ve met some of the most amazing people on my journey. I love the events that bring people into the city. That’s when I really get to meet & greet new people! The one thing I don’t like is our lack of beauty related events in Austin. We actually have a HUGE beauty community, and I’d love for us to get together every now & again.
