Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Zar.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Sasha (short for Oleksandr), and, though I am living in Texas, I grew up in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Kyiv is an ancient city overflowing with art and culture, and it was there that I initially discovered my passion for photography. My very first camera was my trusted friend and we created many memories together, but it wasn’t until I moved to America that I decided to start my own photography and retouching business.
I was always fascinated by magazine covers with supermodels, creative makeup, beautiful clothing and incredible locations that’s why I decided to work in the beauty and fashion industry. I love to connect with other Artists: MUAs, Hairstylists, Stylists and of course, beautiful models. That’s the best part about my job to get to know other artists and be inspired by them and create some work of art.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My photography journey wasn’t easy at all. I’m really critical, and I always reach for perfection. I spent countless hours learning about studio photography, lights, poses, High-End retouching, etc., and I’m still trying to perfect it. The biggest struggle for me is living in a smaller city and not having the ability to connect with other artists. I truly believe that the dream work is teamwork. The biggest progress that you will ever make it to learn from and share your knowledge with other people.
Sasha Zar Photography – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My photography business is one big journey that I like to explore with other Artists. I specialize in Beauty and Fashion photography. Helping other artists to grow and create a unique work of art, that’s what sets me apart from other photography businesses.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moments of my career wasn’t like a certain achievement ( publication, job, or a certain picture), it’s more about people reaching out to me personally and telling me that I inspire them, or they want to work with me because they really like my work and my style or other artists who’d like to work me and create Art. There are so many amazingly talented people out there, and you have so many opportunities to work with other photographers, but yet they want to work with me—that is my biggest achievement!
