As a little girl, I have always loved fashion! As soon as I was old enough, I began a retail career to ensure I was engulfed with the newest trends. While studying Fashion Merchandising at the University of Alabama, I had the opportunity to intern with a local style consultant, Megan LaRussa, who introduced me to the world of styling! Having the opportunity to help with fashion show production, national magazine photoshoots, and client consultations helped me unlock my true calling.
Three months after graduating from the University of Alabama in 2015, I took the leap of faith with my best friend and moved to Dallas, TX from Birmingham, AL the next spring. While working as a manager in high volume retail stores, customers always gravitated towards me because of my style and expertise. I realized quickly that helping others build confidence through style was passion, and I took the leap of faith to launch my own styling company. Style Forward Consulting focuses on helping its clients unlock their true style potential with ease!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a stylist is definitely not an easy path. It involves a lot of networking and consistently setting yourself apart from others. Standing firm in your work and your ideas are needed to successfully be a stylist or even just an entrepreneur of any sort. I am so thankful for my support system because they uplift me when times are hard, they promote my talents to others, and most importantly, they do not mind being a helping hand!
Tell us more about your work.
Style Forward Consulting is a styling agency that helps the everyday person gets dressed! We focus on building confidence through style by truly getting to know and understand our client’s shopping behaviors, personal confidence, and work-life/ balance. I am so proud that we focus on helping all body types and sizes, men and women while focusing on affordability.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has not played a part of my business, rather God’s favor. Growing up in the inner city of Birmingham, you do not necessarily have access to see your peers in a creative field. I am so grateful that God placed people in my life that have inspired me to work towards my purpose. Style Forward Consulting is still a new company; however, I know there is so much more to come!
