Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanni Mr. Amazing.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Giovanni. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born “Christopher Lamar Blake” known as “Giovanni” or “Mr. Amazing”,(August 8, 1984) born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. As long as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for music. Whether being the audience or the creator, music is my lifestyle. I taught myself to play the keys and drums at the age of 12. I grew up singing in the church choir, as well as the drummer. Throughout school years, I’ve participated in many rap battles and freestyle sessions, which helped me hone my craft of lyricism and on the spot freestyling. I was introduced to my very first studio session in high school by a few former classmates, who started their own independent label “The Foundation”. We were known as “The Black Family”. This is where I was given the name Giovanni. I enlisted in The United States Army right after high school, and shortly after, was deployed to Iraq from 2003 – 2004. There is where I wrote and produced my very first mix tape “Just Peep the Game”. With the war and all of the chaos surrounding me in this time of my life, music was the only thing to keep my mind and spirit intact. Once I returned home, I started my own independent label “Is It Live Records/L.U.C. Productions” and have released 3 mix tapes “Fort Worth The Wait Vol. 1 thru 3” and an LP “The Introduction of Mr. Amazing” which is all available on all digital streaming sites.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been easy. I’ve seen some bit of success as well as obstacles. Nearly impossible to break major ground when you are wearing multiple hats by yourself. But I take the rewards with the obstacles. The good with the bad and constantly remind myself what my purpose is. This is my calling, my lifestyle. It’s like breathing for me. No matter how many struggles I face, pursuing this lifestyle, I will continue to do what I was called to do.

Is It Live Records/L.U.C. Productions is an independent recording and production label, specializing in the hip hop, R&B and pop genre. We create quality music with the most creative artists, producers and songwriters, concentrating on supplying all the tools an artist needs to build the foundation to develop their craft, as well as giving opportunities for the community to learn and experience the basics and growth of the music industry.
We’ve seen some success from radio jingle contracts, distribution of our artists and our success is continuing to flourish. I believe what sets us apart from others is our ability to grow with the industry. Our hands on knowledge with the business end as well as diversity in the artistry side. We constantly grow in this industry, as the industry is ever changing.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is continuously shooting for your goal. Never quitting. Even if you don’t meet the goal you set, you are successful because you never gave up. I believe knowledge is everything. Learn as you grow. We live in a world of information and it’s right in the palm of our hands. Constantly seek knowledge in all of your endeavors. Ask questions. See what works, what doesn’t work. Try this, try that, start over, but most importantly, never give up.
