Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Trevino.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Candice. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my blog off the suggestion of a friend of a friend. She mentioned she always loved my style, found great value in the looks I was posting on Instagram, and that she would definitely read my blog if I had one. I really had only used Instagram as a platform for myself. At the time I started on Instagram which was about a year and a half ago, I was just looking for a new network of people. I was married with no children and no plan to have any, and I wanted an environment outside of my immediate circle of friends, where I could connect with other women in some way.
My blog focuses on living a positive lifestyle, with a full and grateful heart, and doing it all fashionably in technicolor. I help people feel comfortable in their own skin, and to love every curve, lump, and bump of their body. So I started my blogging journey just about a year ago now. Since then my blogging career has just kind of accelerated at such a rate that can be somewhat overwhelming at times, but super fulfilling at the same time. My favorite part of blogging has to be the impact that I make in the lives of others, and in turn the impact they make on others as well, myself included.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One thing I credit to grow my audience so fast was asking the advice of other seasoned bloggers. I made sure to meet with everyone I could to find guidance in a space I didn’t quite know too much about. I have some amazing guidance, and I’m very grateful to them.
Balancing and managing my time effectively has been the second struggle. There are only so many hours in one day, and so much to do. Blogging is a lot of work and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. I think there’s a common misconception that all bloggers do is pose in front of a camera, but it’s so much more than that. From the content creation to pitching your brand to companies, to negotiating a fair rate, engaging with your audience, creating an impact on people that’s a positive one…all of it is so so much more than just posing for pictures.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
There are a few things I’m most proud of as of late. I modeled for Lane Bryant back in February and was featured in the windows of all their stores across the United States this past June and July. Additionally, I just came back from New York Fashion Week and I was featured in both Instyle and Elle Italia. Currently, I am nominated for the San Antonio Blogger of the year Award. https://www.instyle.com/fashion/plus-size-street-style-gallery-nyfw-september-2019?fbclid=IwAR3BXXEpekJoAB02TPlElptcweSlwuyHOdTnY9ZVdgHP4yLV1VjSyB10axM

I think what sets me apart from others is my positive outlook on life, my body, and the way I treat others. To me, it’s never a choice on whether to lead with kindness. I treat people with kindness because everyone deserves it. I encourage my audience to do the same because the world could always use more kindness.
A second thing that sets me apart is unapologetically living in a body that’s plus size. I encourage women to love every lump and bump of their body, regardless of their size. Everybody is a beautiful body.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by the amount of the impact we make on one another. I feel like everyone has a purpose in life, mine is to promote kindness and positivity between one another. When my audience reaches out to me and shares their testimonies on how they have created a more positive environment for themselves or have shown kindness to someone else, it makes what I do worth it.
