Today we’d like to introduce you to Shad Fuller and Tangie Fuller.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shad and Tangie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a skinny 8-year-old who had just transferred to a new elementary school, I was picked on and bullied by the other larger kids. There was another boy, who thought he was my age, was a much bigger kid that began to take up for me and kept the bullies away. One day, though, instead of taking up for me & diffusing the situation, he made me fight one of my constant bullies. That day changed my life because I stood up for myself but sustaining a few bruises & scratches, my parents decided to enroll me in Taekwondo at the local recreation center.
Over time, I realized that I was gaining such confidence, strength & self-control by using the techniques taught in the classes. As well, I was having fewer instances where I would be confronted by potential bullies or trouble-seekers.
Fast forward to the meeting of my wife, Tangie, who was very active in the community involved youth enrichment services and activities. Through service along-side her, I was able to spend more time with youth from all different walks of life & was able to notice a pattern of behavioral issues in children with low self-esteem & those who may have been lacking the confidence to stand up for themselves. I knew I had the answer … I knew what Martial Arts had done for me!
We partnered with a friend of my wife’s and began holding classes two nights weekly at her cheer gym. Within two years, God showed us His plan to branch us out to allow us to serve more families. We left her gym with almost ten students and were serving over 50 at the end of our 1st year at our storefront location. We continue to grow monthly, but most importantly, we continue to serve our families with the same integrity, love & support as we have from day number one!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been a smooth one, but it has been worth it! From unexpected financial expenses to roller-coaster monthly income, we have continued to be blessed and to be able to bless others. God simply does all things well!

Fast Fist Martial Arts believes in exceeding the martial arts & personal safety awareness standards. Since 2015 we have been committed to developing the highest level of self-defense, self-awareness and self-confidence that each student can obtain. So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m currently in pursuit of adding martial arts to the local public school system’s curriculum. While we’re always looking forward to growing & adding a location in the near future, we are also sure of the positive effects of the study martial arts that we can’t wait to share the changes brought about in the students & communities due to this wonderful addition!
