Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalin Morgan.
Jalin, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started using a camera when I was in 10th grade. I played sports in high school so I wasn’t able to take a photography class, so I got real cool with the photography class teacher & she would let me take the camera on the weekends & return on Monday when school was back. I would take the camera to local parties and take a picture at the parties. A lot of people were enjoying what I was doing and would post my work on Facebook. I continued doing that throughout high school.
My senior year I shot my first local music video with one of my childhood friends Mduke ( another SA videographer/artist) & after that I knew we had something that we could take a long way. I went to school at UNT ( Denton ) where I would eventually link up with my bro Flex ( @Flexaveli ). He really put me on the scene at UNT & in Dallas had me at every party recording. That’s where I started to develop my name ( Hype ) everybody was posting my work at this point. Was getting a lot of attention from the school & from the city. I was shooting music videos for a lot of Dallas artists. I wanted a professional production brand so me and my homie Zay Jones ( @IamZayJones ) started WeTheShooters, we really started turning up got to capture legendary content like TayK – Megaman.
I always had the connection to Jacquees me and his stepbrother/artist Boakie ( @1boakie ) grew up together & he always told me he was gonna plug me in SXSW 16.
Jacquees videographer Bpace hit me saying they needed an extra shooter, I had quit my job at enterprise and drove down to Austin. After that trip, we locked in & I was able to travel everywhere with them went on 4 tours,
( Mood Tour, Tory Lanez Tour, Chris Brown Tour, 4275 Tour ).
During the recent year, I’ve been able to work with some NBA homies ( Taurean Prince, Jordan Clarkson). Glad to be able to inspire everyone to keep going and never give up. I’ve let a lot of people see my story.
And they have seen where I’ve came from.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Nothing great ever happens smoothly. Of course, sometimes you struggle financially, but it’s never been about the money to me I’ve been willing to sacrifice money in order to become better at my craft. Sometimes you have to do free work to develop connections to progress forward.
Dealt with broken laptops ( that’s probably the worst ).
Please tell us more about your work. What should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
WeTheshooters, we specialize in Visual Content. All areas of visual content ( photography / Videography ).
We are known for our Music Videos.
Most proud to say that we were able to work with Industry artist personally.
Right now Zay Jones is currently French Montana’s videographer & is touring the world with French.
That’s BIG people from where we are from don’t get chances like that & we both have been allowed the opportunity to see the other side.
I think That’s what sets us apart from others, the work ethic the dedication.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I was always social since I was young I have always been like a magnet people attract to me and to what I’m doing.
I started off as an athlete so from that we already had the crowd if that makes sense.
I can relate to anybody doesn’t matter if it’s the kid sitting by himself at the lunch table I was the kind of person to sit and talk to him & still go do my thing with my people.
