Meet Denia Daniel of SUPERIOR in DeSoto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denia Daniel.

Denia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off with a passion for makeup. I loved the reactions I would receive from my clients after being dazzled by me. One day, I was sitting and thinking “I want to go bigger”. I wanted to do something that could make everyone feel good and reach all age groups. I came to the conclusion that I wanted to start a clothing brand. I wanted my clothing brand to stand out and mean something. I searched for a name for days and came up with a few. SUPERIOR was the name that stood out to me and it’s meaning. I shared my idea with my mother and she told me to go for it. I started to do research on starting a clothing brand and gathered all the information I needed. After gathering all the essential information that was needed, I wanted to have a logo that was different. I went through a logo company that helped me created my logo. Within three months I had my first order of shirts made at the end of my junior year of high school. I was proud of myself for going through with the process and I had support from my family and friends.

Has it been a smooth road?
I can’t say that it has always been a smooth process. When it comes to being an entrepreneur, you have to be willing to invest in your ideas and also you cannot be ashamed to advertise your business. When I received my first order of shirts everyone did support but there were those who felt entitled to receive discounts or free products. One piece of advice I would share with new entrepreneurs is your business is separate from your relationships with others. You have to be willing to say no when it is necessary. My first order of shirts I gave out more than what I sold and I only made back what I spent. The idea was to sell all the products and make a profit that I could invest back into my business. I started to learn more about running a business and keeping it professional overtime. Another thing that I would say to encourage entrepreneurs is to know that businesses have ups and downs in the market. There will be times when you will have no sales compared to the sales you have had previously. I encourage you to keep going and to keep your audience engaged. The way I keep my audience engaged is by coming up with new products. Winter is approaching and I am dropping my first collection. My winter collection will have bodysuits for the ladies and jogger suits for the men. I will be relaunching the website the day my winter collection drops.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SUPERIOR – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
SUPERIOR is a brand with meaning. When I started my brand my mission statement was “ SUPERIOR will be more than a clothing-line. It will a statement, a movement, and an expression made by people.” SUPERIOR has become that and more. When I first started my company I was going through other vendors to get SUPERIOR branded on clothing. I recently have purchased the equipment to brand clothes on my own. Outside of my brand, I do custom outfits for customers. I am proud of my business because of the exposure it is getting. It is expanding over my community and over time, it will expand to other places. When I had my website up I nearly cried when I received an order from El Paso. When seeing that I could reach other areas, I now know there are no limits to how much SUPERIOR can grow. I’ve had many proud moments such as being a vendor at a grand opening! The proudest moment I had was when my brand inspired others to keep going even when I didn’t have it in me. I lost my mom back in February and it broke my heart. What touched me was when others reminded me that I was SUPERIOR. I received so much support to keep going. My brand stands out from others because of the meaning behind it. It is a brand to empower everyone. Your age, gender, or race does not matter when you are rocking SUPERIOR. I love when my customers tell me that when wearing my clothes, they really do feel SUPERIOR!
