Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Searcey.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated from The Art Institute of Dallas in 2002 with a degree in Graphic Design. I was a Graphic Designer for over 15 years and worked for several great companies. Around April 2014 my husband’s job relocated us to Oklahoma.
This move gave me a chance to reset and evaluate where I wanted to be in my creative career. I made the decision to move away from Graphic Design and step into photography. It started out slowly, more as a hobby. I took photos of my family, nature, and every day things. I absolutely loved it! So in 2016, I decided to get really serious and begin training as a professional.
I started with portrait photography and quickly moved to wedding photography. There is just something that stuck with me when I went to my first wedding. Everything was beautiful, emotions were overwhelming, and I had a great time! At that moment, I decided that it was perfect for me! I took several classes and trained under some fantastic wedding photographers.
My family and I moved back to the DFW area this past July. I’ve been working hard to make connections in the wedding industry and get my business out there. I truly love what I do and want to share it with as many people as I can.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Moving back to Texas and rebuilding my business is a challenge. I’ve met some really great people so far and can’t wait to see what the future brings.
Please tell us about By Victoria Photography.
I am a full-time wedding and fine art portrait photographer. I love everything about what I do and I hope it shows in my work. When I’m not working at weddings, I really love to get creative with my clients and utilize my graphic design skills. We do some really fun and fantastical things!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have probably changed careers earlier in my life. Many of the photographers that I trained under were younger than me by at least ten years!
