Meet Danielle Poage of Endora’s Bakehouse in East Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Poage.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My first jobs out of culinary school were all bread baking gigs, and while I absolutely loved it. It is a very demanding schedule, very early mornings and long hours. I turned to cookie decorating as a stress reliever from the demands of my job but still with ties to baking. Endora’s Bakehouse grew from that side hobby as friends and family started ordering sets and has now become my full-time job.

Has it been a smooth road?
Cookie decorating can be a laborious process, sometimes I think I traded one demanding schedule for another. Because I operate out of my home under the Texas Cottage Laws, it can be difficult to step away from the business and focus on that work-life balance. There are always cookies not far away to work on!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Endora’s Bakehouse story. Tell us more about the business.
Endora’s Bakehouse specializes in custom decorated cookies for any event or occasion. Because we only offer cookies, I can focus on making that one product the best for my customers.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It’s so interesting to see which designs are trending at any given time. Unicorns were big a couple of years ago and now it’s llamas and pumpkin sweaters. As the industry grows, more and more cookiers are joining the craft and there are truly some amazing artists out there. It keeps you constantly striving to improve your skillset. I have recently begin to hand-paint more designs for a watercolor effect and I wouldn’t even have thought myself capable of that a few years ago.
