Meet Sofia Davalos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Davalos.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sofia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m originally from Ecuador. I moved to Dallas five years ago. I studied law in Ecuador, I when I came to United States, I was looking for new challenges and new opportunities and I found them in this beautiful city. I started to work as TV talent in some commercials in the Metroplex until I got invite to work for AZTECA Dallas as reporter for the TV Show “SOMOS TEXAS”, winner of few EMMY LONE STAR.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As I always say, I love Dallas and Dallas loves me back. But moving to another country is always challenging. And more when you have to start from zero. It has been a long adapting process starting for with work hard to improve my English, learn about a new cultures, American and Mexican culture, make new friends and deal with the home-sick days. It haven’t been an easy road but its totally worth it. I wouldn’t change anything of what I had to go through because they made me grow as professional and human being. Always surround yourself with people who love you and believe in you because you are going to need them on that days where life put big challenges on your road. In my case, I have an amazing family that have always been my support system and great friends here in Dallas and in Ecuador that always cheers for me. Don’t be afraid of the challenges or of the hard days because is life making us to proof it how much we want something and always prepares us to the next level.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Have the opportunity to represent Latinos in front of a camera is a big responsibility and amazing experience. I had the chance to explore the city and support Latinos entrepreneurs and artists and to show to the people all the beautiful gems that Dallas have. I think the most important thing is to love what you do and do what you love, and probably that’s the biggest secret on my successful journey. I love to be in front of the camera and you can totally noticed it when you see me on TV, you can feel my positivity and joy. It’s incredible the feeling that I have when I hear “action”, it’s like the rest of the world disappears and I’m completely focused on give my best performance for the show. And currently I’m working on develop my acting career, which is a new challenge but what keeps my pushing forward is the fact to have the opportunity to represent all my Latin people.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Successful have a personal definition for each human being. For me, is to be happy with my life and feel proud of each step that I conquer. Sometimes we focus so much on the goal that we forget that it’s all about the journey. It doesn’t matter what you do it’s all about to enjoying the ride, to life live to the fullest, with all the colorful days and with the grey days too, because it only happens once. I feel I’m a successful person because I went through many challenges in my path and I’m still have a smile in my face and I’m proud of that.
