Juan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
“FAILURE TEACHES SUCCESS” What can I say about this quote so much.
I was a young man with no worries or a plan on where I was going to end up in LIFE!! Little that I knew I was on the right path even when everything felt like it wasn’t going to work. Truth is, I never gave up. I was in the era where barbering wasn’t a well-known profession. I never considered changing paths, I knew sooner or later, I was going to make it. Through all the obstacles when one door closed for me, I learned how to open my own doors! So when I failed with one door, I opened three more!! Changing up everything, doing what I thought was different, I was able to express myself and do what I thought the barber industry needed not so much change it. The saying “history always repeats itself“ inspired me to bringing back the vintage atmosphere of yesterday and it has taken me to unexpected heights. 💈 So that being said, I never look at failure as a defeat but more as a life lesson to get to success.
Moving fast forward I own three barbershops my first one was in 2006 TEXASFADEZ barbershop in the heart of oak cliff 1228s. Hampton rd Dallas Tx 75208 in 2015 I linked up with Monte Anderson we’ll know developer around the area in oak cliff that not only my client but became a good friend of mine and showed me the way to commercial real estate and I opened my second location in Kessler park area in oak cliff not shortly I purchased my 3location in Duncanville and now currently opened my 4 location which is Texasfadez barber college educating molding the next generation future barbers into this craft culture I love and honor, I educate my students to not only give a haircut but an experience to only receive but give back this year will be are 9th year doing our annual toy drive and very proud to have the love and support not only from family and friends but also from the community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For me starting my business at a young age I struggled a bit not knowing about permits, licensing, contracts, etc… so you can say I was learning as I was going. A struggle that I did face was keeping up with my shop making sure everything was always in order I had to learn to make sure all the advertising, marketing I was putting out was being seen by an actual person not thrown away I would go to schools stand outside grocery stores Home Depo, Movies at one time I was just a little bit red building with no sign no TV nothing just a building with chairs and mirrors but I had the shop full of people waiting outside the door I believe it was the team I had gathered for 11 years now I’ve had great teams come and go but also grow themselves so I can say it was bumpy road but will not change it I am who I am from what I learned threw out the years.

I always give back to the community, I am a people person I’m always here to serve and make sure every single client walking threw the door gets treated fairly.

My wife who is my backbone helps me balance life and business She deserves a lot of credit helping keep all my business stable one of my good friends RIckclipz post-Malone tattoo artist was with me from 2007-2011 from the beginning and help me grow my business with his artistic skill designing hair portraits in back of customers heads. Monte Anderson who help me grow my business by giving me opportunities and guidance threw my business venture.
