Today we’d like to introduce you to R Jay Berry.
R Jay, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hearing my maternal grandmother tell me her life’s story, I heard her message that could possibly help others but she did not. Not able to begin my writing until after she passed, I was encouraged to write her story in the Sunday Rose Trilogy.
With the success of the trilogy, I wrote three additional books and all have the themes of faith, family, and friendships. All are based on actual events and are Christian-based.
I have had multiple local, other large city, and out of state book signings at various book venues.
Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest obstacle is large scale marketing. While I have had success with local paper articles after the release of all of my books, a story in Southwest Now, a TV news story about my sixth book, and various radio interviews, I have not reached the level of notoriety I would like.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Not sure. My next book will tell the story of my parents’ deaths in the Help Chronicles. It’s taking me longer to write these stories for obvious reasons but I do believe this book can help others.
The only shift I would like to see is a larger audience or possibly a movie made about one of my stories.
