Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Relph.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tyler. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am from New York and played High school basketball there where I won Mr. Basketball of New York. I went on to play at West Virginia and Saint Bonaventure in College and then had a career-ending knee injury. I coaches Division 1 basketball at Saint Bonaventure and fell in love with working with players on the court. So I left coaching and decided to start Tyler Relph Basketball! After researching, I came to Dallas because at the time, there was no one doing skills training in Dallas Back in 2010-11. My first client was New York Knicks All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire who I traveled the country within the summer of 2011. My first client in Dallas was a 4th Grader named Nyah Green who last year in 2018 was a McDonalds All American and now is a freshman at Louisville. From there, I worked with Julius Randle who has become not only a client but one of my closest friends. We now run training programs in the Metroplex area, and we have run camps and clinics in 40 States and 5 Countries and have the biggest training organization in China. Tyler Relph Basketball has now been in existence for nine years and we have built a following of 500k on social media.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every day has its own struggles, the biggest struggle was moving out here and knowing nobody. Building something from scratch is never easy, and now having so many people getting into this field in Dallas because it doesn’t take a true education to have the business has watered down the market. Every day in any business has its struggles but you just keep knocking down doors!
Tell us more about the business.
We are a basketball training company that specializes in giving all players the correct skills to perfect their game.
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve done it the right way, Ive never taken advantage of a person or situation to get to where I am at and I can always walk around with my head high knowing that!
The time I put into my craft is what sets us apart. This is a type of business where you have to be extremely knowledgable and give your clients every upper hand to be great!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe that you create your luck!
