Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Grussendorf.
Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Plano, TX moved to Los Angeles, CA at 17 when I was signed to a Clear Talent Dance Agency. Worked in LA as a dancer for four years before moving into the fashion industry. I started working in wholesale for Elizabeth and James and from there moved to a multi-brand showroom then worked for Diane Von Furstenberg, after a couple of years with DVF, I decided to stay with the company and move to their NYC office. I stayed in NYC for about a year before moving back to Dallas. I started working for a Jewelry Brand as head of sales and traveled all over the US working with stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman & Nordstrom. In 2015 I decided to start my own fashion blog, Lomaintenance. My love for fashion and creativity is represented in this blog, something fun and different to do outside of my 9-5. I now run Lomaintenance along with running head of sales for a UK Brand, Stephen Webster.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been rough from the start, I chose a career that would lead to a lot of “No’s”. A career where you have to be strong and relentless to become successful. While dancing was my first love it taught me to never give up on something I loved but that determination helped me to discover that I could make a career out of anything I set my mind to.
Please tell us about Lomaintenance.style.
Lomaintenance is a fashion blog to provide inspiration. I post my outfits from day to day but also my travels. I started this blog as a lot of people were asking where I purchased items from my wardrobe and how to style them. There are so many fashion blogs people have access to today, I wanted to just share inspiring photos and not influence people by words. My photos are curated for the reader’s eye to focus just on the clothing, styling & photography rather than the person wearing them.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started this blog back in 2012 when I originally wanted to. I didn’t do it at the time because I wanted everything to be perfect and be high end and well-executed but looking back the whole process is all a trial and error. You have to learn what works and doesn’t work for your readers, all a learning experience. But you never know until you jump in.
