Today we’d like to introduce you to Toddraune Smith.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Toddraune. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been an artist. I Always wanted a clothing brand. I felt before I work on a brand for the world, I would love to create a brand for my city. A brand that would represent all things great in Dallas. In December of 2011, I was working at the DFM ( Dallas Farmers Market) and I had an idea for a blog Called Dallas Fresh. On this blog, I wanted to highlight all the great things about Dallas and the Farmers Market. I lost that job that summer and didn’t want the idea to go to waste. So I decided to create the brand Dallas Fresh.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has had its challenges. Mainly dealt by life lol. The hardest struggle is time. With Dallas Fresh being a one-man-band. I have had to learn a lot of new things in short periods of time. I am oddly thankful for the challenges though. It has pushed me in a direction I would never be in without them.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dallas Fresh story. Tell us more about the business.
Dallas Fresh is a brand that wants to bring more shine to our amazing city. Although I may be biased, I think Dallas needs more representation. Representation the way New York receives. Currently, t-shirts is what I produce/specialize in. I am most proud of the direction and evolution Dallas Fresh is taking. I think the thing that sets Dallas Fresh apart from others is I don’t do this to get rich or famous I genuinely love my city. To quote Andre 3000 so what, Dallas has something to say!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think luck hasn’t played much of a role. I have been creating my whole life, I just think timing and preparation are just beginning to pay off.
