Meet Kelsey Brown of The Vine Family Chiropractic in Grapevine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Brown.

Kelsey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My chiropractic journey started as a freshly graduated CT technologist/ new mom that injured herself. I had a friend that referred me to a chiropractor, and I was in pain so thought let’s give it a go. The chiropractic did the trick and the pain was gone. As I continued care, I was asking about my child’s never-ending cycles of ear infections and antibiotics, and to my surprise my chiropractor said he could help with it. Sure enough we got her under consistent care and she NEVER had another ear infection. This changed her life, our reality, and was the very proof I needed to be convinced to go to chiropractic school.

I would spend the next two years studying to finish my prerequisites, save money, and do what needed to be done to make chiropractic school a reality. Chiropractic school meant moving to Texas and leaving my husband and child behind. I would travel back and forth from Texans to Oklahoma every weekend for 2.5 years to ensure our family would stay together. This was our reality until we had another addition to our family during chiropractic school.

At the point of two kids, we decided the family needed to move to Texas as I finished up school. My story has never been easy, pretty, but it has definitely been beautifully orchestrated. While I was finishing my clinic requirements it was pretty clear that we would stay in Texas and I would open my practice here. I fell in love with the feel of Grapevine, TX and knew this would be a great place to grow a family-oriented practice. So in January 2014 with a seven years old, and a one-year-old we opened The Vine Family Chiropractic.

I know how to push, work hard, and fight for what you want, but as I opened a chiropractic office those would not be tools needed to facilitate healing in my practice. The biggest lesson I had to learn was to leave the fighter at the door, become soft, become love, and to become the doctor I always needed. My life is real, busy, but also fun, silly, with an amazing marriage, and a beautiful family. The ones that have been with me through the ride still remind me of how far I have come.

It has been said to me, “practice members are always a reflection of the doctor.” I see my reflection in them, I SEE them, they trust me with their health, their family, their babies, and we live life together. I am honored to remind them to be soft, become love the love they need and show them the tribe they have helped me build.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say my life journey has been perfectly orchestrated to let me learn in my own time. I am a very driven person, but I can also be a slow learner as well. I have learned to not question the why of “life lessons” that are dealt to you but simply take a moment to reflect on what the lesson is meant to evolve in your life. This was one of the hardest things for me to learn because at times it has felt like a never-ending series of life lessons.

The Vine Family Chiropractic – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Nothing warms my heart more than working with generations with a family at our amazing chiropractic office. We are on a mission to serve families as a whole, and we practice from the basic premise that the body can heal itself. This allows the practice member to step into their role in their care, and we are merely loving and supporting the process. This put the power back into their hands where it was always meant to be. I am most proud of this office becoming a community for its members.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I would say success is defined for me with the amount of joy in my life. Am I joyful? Can I remain on the path to joy not just in the good season, but also in the hard seasons? I have re-framed my definition of success many times over and have to settle on this because material things fade, friends come and go, but your internal barometer is what will never lie to you.
