Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Peace.
Brenda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Coming from a background where my mother did hair for 20 years and was very good at what she did, I knew I always loved anything beauty related. I always loved playing hair salon. My sister and I were doing full hair transformations with color, perming, extensions all in our early teens. Sometimes we would get creative and wouldn’t listen to our mother’s instructions and it would be a hair disaster but we were learning from that all at an early age. We had fun and loved making each other feel beautiful and special. As young artists getting to see the results were so rewarding.
People would tell me to go to college and that a hairstylist is not a good paying career. So when I graduated high school, I joined the military and was a military police in the Air Force. I then moved to Europe for four years and even there, I couldn’t get away from my love for all things beauty. I would go off and find all my favorite salons in Iceland and Germany and stalk them. I would ask tons of questions and was eager to know how a salon worked. While in Germany, I even traveled to France to a highly rated salon to get my extensions done; the whole experience was perfect. I knew then why they were so highly rated. There was no doubt that everyone in that salon was successful and they took their career very serious. These stylists made sure the whole experience was flawless and that made traveling and expense all worth it. I knew then I wanted to create that. I have always been fascinated by transforming someone’s look to make them feel beautiful and confident. It wasn’t shortly after getting out of the service that I pursued my dream to have a salon that I could give people the experience that I always dreamed of.
Along with this, it has also been my goal not just to be average but to have a high rated salon. I have an awesome team and we have done just that. We are such a strong team and are all working towards the same goal. This is not a job to my team but a career that has no end to the opportunities. That is how dreams come true. I have been doing hair ten years and Revamp Salon has been open for three years now. I always wanted my stylist to enjoy working for me and they do. I love to hear they love their job and the financial opportunities this career has given them. We are continuously growing and will continue to set new goals.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, not at all! I have heard business owners always seem crazy well. I get it now. It is amazing how strong you become from failure or unexpected things, getting thrown your way. I wouldn’t change anything though the more that seems to go wrong, the stronger and more knowledgeable you become. You just figure out the issue and keep pressing forward.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a dreamer and I believed you could do anything if you put your mind to it. Now I do still think that you just have to put in the work. I also believe that most growth comes from being out of your comfort zone.
