Meet George Huff

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Huff.

George, before we jump into specific questions about your music, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am George Huff! I am a New Orleans native who started singing in local churches around the city. In 1998 I attended the University of Oklahoma. While studying, I ran across hard financial times, which led me to take the chance of a lifetime by auditioning for season 3 of American Idol. I ended up landing a spot in the top 12, luckily enough I made it all the way to the top 5 of that season! I competed alongside some of music’s biggest stars we know today as Grammy award winner Fantasia Barrino and Academy and Grammy award winner Jennifer Hudson. After American Idol, I went on to record three albums, two singles, performing all over the United States and abroad. My 2005 debut single “A Brighter Day” was featured in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married part 1. I’ve written the latest title cut for the Blind Boys of Alabama, “Take the High Road through the Valley.” After moving from New Orleans by way of hurricane Katrina. I settled in Dallas, Tx. For the past nine years, I have been touring with Jennifer Hudson. My latest acting feature was on The Jefferson’s Live on ABC, singing the theme song “Movin on Up” written and sung by the late Ja’net Dubois with Jennifer. It won an Emmy for best performance in a rehearsal. I am proud to announce on March 20, 2020, I am releasing my new anticipated single entitled “The Chase.” You can catch me on tour this spring and summer with Jennifer and my own shows around the Dallas metroplex and other cities!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been ups and downs. However, my family, friends, and fans have been a great support through it all.

Please tell us about your music.
What sets me apart from others is my personality because I am myself around every environment and my ability to connect deeply with people through my music.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is every moment. However, I was blessed on June 16, 2004 in Los Angeles. I got to carry Athens Olympic Torch!
