Today we’d like to introduce you to Romello Truitt and Roland “M.E” Truitt.
Romello and Roland, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Me (Romello) and Roland (my bro) started our journey over ten years ago as entrepreneurs and didn’t know it. Roland started as a musician, and I (Romello) started as a fashion designer. Growing up, we always wanted to create and build businesses and concepts in which we could be proud of. In 2012 we came together and started Wings World Restaurants by opening our first location in Lancaster, Texas the neighborhood we grew up in. They say you have to put in 10 thousand hours to become an expert. We put in 30 thousand hours, and we began to expand. We now have five restaurants in total. 3 Wings World locations and two other concepts. We used our self-taught knowledge of the restaurant industry and our creativity to fuel our businesses, and as long as our goal is to teach and inspire I know that we will always be GREAT.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We call them hurtles. That means as soon as you jump over one, here comes the next one. In my experience, the main struggle of a owner is managing time as far as perfecting your business, growing your business, handling your personal relationships, and taking care of yourself all at the same time and “mo money mo problems” lol.
Please tell us about Wings World.
Wings World specializes in flavor variety and that’s what sets us apart. We make good chicken wings, and we are known for being the up and coming go-to spot for wings in Southern Dallas. We are proud to be able to provide jobs in the communities we come from and teach others how to own and operate their own restaurant one day.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
“Trading baseball cards and doing WWF wrestling moves.” -Roland
