Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Paulson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashlee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been doing makeup for nine years. When I first started, I never saw it as a career, but only a fun hobby. When I worked for MAC cosmetics, I encouraged a lady that would change how I look at beauty forever. She was a middle-aged Hispanic woman. She came in to get color matched. I told her, of course! I wiped her and told her to take any remaining makeup off so we can color match her. She was very embarrassed and seemed to be very emotional. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me that she had a very dark spot on her cheek and she was very insecure. After a few minutes of convincing her to wipe the makeup off, we began to color match. After we found her perfect color, I introduced her to color correction. By the end of our time together, we had completely covered the spot on her face, and she started crying and gave me a hug. That moment was so impactful to me and I realize that makeup is not only about what the outside looks like but how it makes you feel on the inside and bringing out the best version of yourself so you can feel confident. Since then, I’ve been on a mission to empower women through beauty and help them feel confident.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge I have had is learning growth is uncomfortably, and I can not control every situation. Letting go and getting out of my comfort zone has been my hardest challenge in every chapter of my journey.
Heels and Hustle Beauty – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We offer on-demand spray tanning, makeup applications as well as classes, and hairstyling. I am most proud of the other artists that work with me. We are truly a team and love to bring the best experience to every person we have the opportunity to tan or glam! I am so passionate about what I do, and I’m so thankful to have artists on my team that has the same vision and passion as myself. What really sets Heels and Hustle Beauty apart is the compassion and artistry we have towards each client. Giving 100% every time.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career has been to show my daughter that women can be successful in their passion. She is very involved in my business. We talk daily about what is going on and who I have scheduled. Having a business that can help women feel better after their experience and to have my family a part of what I do is what I am most proud of.
