Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Withers.
Casey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started taking photos as a means of occupation therapy and rehabilitation after suffering injuries in the military that would eventually land me back in the civilian sector. I enjoyed the process and began practicing and developing my skill set by photographing cars, something I was around quite a bit.
In doing that, I occasionally worked with a model that would be with the car and I found that I really enjoyed working with clients but needed to improve my skill to work with people instead of vehicles.
At that point, I set out to learn not only the technical and photography side of what I was doing but also focused on the people’s side. I stayed focus on the things that were missing from the industry and began pursuing ways to solve those issue.
As I continued to develop, I began working with fitness models and because of some timely international publications, became considered one of the industry leaders as word continued to spread of our process for handling clients as well as our work.
Eventually, I moved from San Diego to Dallas because the amount of travel that was being asked of me warranted being in the middle of the country and Dallas was always a great city to come and work in,
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are challenges in any business. Our biggest setback was rapid growth and the adjustments that come with it. Transitioning our brand across the country, building trust in new markets, and as always the long days of delivering on what you have promised a client.
Every business is going to face new challenges, dirty and underhanded players that want to take what they have, and of course as we are currently seeing, the challenges of the unknown that lies ahead.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about C Withers Media Group – what should we know?
We are a commercial photography company that specializes in high-quality glamour, fashion, and athletic imagery.
Our brand is known for customization, customer service, in addition to quality of product and process.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My early business partners Mark and Russ Handy, as well as all of the amazing photographers out there like Mike Crouch that took some time along the way to help me out. Debbie Merrit always cheered for us and helped facilitate our growth in Dallas by allowing us to use a gym she used to own as a base of operations. And Tracy Withers who has always been supportive and helped me facilitate growth. Without her support, we wouldn’t be anywhere near where we at today. Of course all of our amazing clients that have been the catalyst for our growth and success over the years. They are truly world class.
