Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Salus, Jose Villanueva, Scott Nichols, Mandy Horton, Todd and Denise Greenwood.
Morgan, Jose, Todd, and Denise, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We were founded by Zane Latham back in the mid-eighties. He started out as a one man show in his garage, and eventually grew the business to what it is today. We have over 50 employees, and complete over 100 projects a week. The Greenwood’s purchased the business in April of this year, and are looking to grow in to new markets by making even higher quality products at the same price point. They have added machinery, team members, and craftsman to keep up with our growing demand.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When the market took a dive in 2008 the company struggled to stay afloat, but we made it! The housing market has obviously picked up quite a bit recently, and with it the demand for custom cabinetry, stairs, and millwork. We love the busy times. It keeps our guys working, allows us to invest in new technology and equipment, and be more innovative with our designs.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Latham Stairs & Cabinets – what should we know?
We create beautiful custom cabinetry, stairs, and mantels, as well as, custom cedar and millwork. We build it all. Everything from high end furniture-style cabinets, to outdoor cedar pergolas. I believe we are most proud of our quality of work. We are based here in north Texas, but we source our materials from all over to be sure we are providing our clients with the absolute highest quality pieces. What sets us apart is that we are “old school meets new school”. We have the old school craftsman’s touch, with the new school style and customer care. It is extremely important to us that we offer every option possible to our clients. Remodeling, or building a new home, is quite a process, and it can be nerve wracking to trust someone with your vision. We want our clients to know that we hear them, and we are dedicated to delivering exactly what they have envisioned.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We owe a huge “thank you” to Zane and Carolyn Latham. They have built a truly incredible company from nothing. They have continued to mentor us and acquaint us with the existing customer base. We are also grateful for our team and their families. We know that this business can be busy, and we thank them and their families for all of their hard work!
