Conversations with the Inspiring Jamila Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamila Brown.

Jamila, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well it all started at 20 years ago, my mama taught me how to braid hair from that point. I was doing my cousins and neighborhood friend hair and since then, hair braiding has been a trait That follows me. About 18 I took hairstyling more seriously, and started taking clients while attending community college for a yr, after school I came home went to barber school for 7-8 months where I learned how to cut men’s hair and Retwist dreadlocks, But ultimately barber school wasn’t for me. So recently in 2018, I started cosmetology school at Aveda Institute and which I graduated from Beauty school in June 2019 this was one of my biggest accomplishments.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been rocky but ultimately, I’m positive this industry was destined for me. Amongst trials and tribulations, I’ve been a full-time hairstylist since 2017, So three years of fully focusing on my business and my goals and I’ve put myself in a better situation. I literally did hair from 2010-2015 for literally nothing, it took me going to cosmetology school to educate me. Hairstyling has always been a passion of mines. So I’ve accepted its ups and down and use tribulations to add fuel to my fire 🔥
