My name is Aakiyah – Kia for short. I’ve been doing makeup for almost my WHOLE life. It’s been a hidden talent for years. Honestly, I had no idea I would be into makeup AT ALL. I use to sneak it around and wear it at school and as soon as it was time to go home. I’m in the bathroom SCRUBBING FOR LIFE lol. I’ll say ten years of my life – on August 13, 2020 that’ll be my ten year mark. You go through a lot of rejection and dissatisfaction with clients all the time as an aspiring artist. Keep pushing and understand that not everyone wants or needs YOUR service.
I still remember the worst makeover I have a friend of mines and she never came back nine years later she’s like “OMG I NEED THIS” so keep up your craft and you’ll see your perfection play its role.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not a smooth road at all… The money, the clients, the traveling times (being the only travel artist) that I know of. It can all just become a bit stressful. I would probably say I specialize in skincare and eyes. I take pride in making sure the eyes are the UPMOST STUNNING!!! Light foundation, but a nice flawless face bold, soft eyes. 💕✨
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have practiced more, and also take it way more seriously back then. I was doing great 👍🏾 But if I was to push it way more like how I do now, it would have brought me to the top. DEFINITELY!
