Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassie Coleman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The makeup bug hit me while working at a hair salon as a shampoo apprentice. It’s literally as if it was beamed down into my system. So I asked the owner if I could have a holiday party for the clients. I decorated one of the additional rooms at the salon, had wine & hor d’oeuvres, and makeup for the five clients that were willing to pay $25 to have their makeup applied.
I applied makeup for all five clients and took Polaroid pictures so they were developed on the spot. LOL The clients had the option to purchase their photos.
With everyone being so excited about their makeup outcomes, I decided to continue to practice the art. In 1.5 years, I entered my first makeup artist competition. This was a near Halloween so creativity was a must. I created a Candy Fairy which ultimately won the competition.
I’m self-taught so I was extremely happy to have won that contest.
Over the years, I’ve practiced in the Dallas area as one of the cities premier artist. I’ve now transitioned into servicing specific clients all over the world.
I consider this journey an ultimate blessings as I’m able to be creative with my artistry and minister to those that grace my chair.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve definitely had my share of obstacles. From adding to my kit, learning a specific technique for a fashion show to timing being off on a project.
All of these challenges helped to make me better.
Kassie’s Kreations – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Dallas makeup artist and since Feb. 2019, a doula. I’m happy to service new clients in the Dallas area for both makeup & doula services.
My makeup artistry consists of me creating specific looks for clients attending various events.
As a doula, I provide support during pre-natal visits, birth delivery support, and post-natal support. Supporting families has been ultimately satisfying.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built while growing my business. I know I’m here to serve and to bless others which I feel sets me apart. It’s not just about making money but pouring goodness into the hearts of others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My most proudest moment has been constant. I’ve grown a business from nothing to working with some of our world’s esteemed celebrities. I’ve also been able to encourage my clients throughout their sessions to achieve things they may have had doubt about.
