Meet Katelyn White of KAYWHT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelyn White.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Dallas back in 2011 from Memphis, Tennessee, and I really didn’t start my music career then. After I graduated, I spent more time in the studio, and I was pleased with the results. I started to perfect my craft, and it led me to meet some amazing, talented people. I dropped my first project last September, and I recently released a new single. A lot of people have been giving me great feedback, so I’m at a point where I am leveling up for my next project!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been pretty difficult, because of the people that I thought had my best interest at heart really didn’t. They viewed me as just a pretty girl that can sing, so they looked at me as a number and not a person. There were men that were artists that I’ve dated that has tried to take over, control me, critique me, and all-around try to make me who I was already destined to be! I’ve had girlfriends that weren’t on the same page as me and wanted it way worse than I did. I’ve made a name for myself here in Dallas, and it wasn’t easy but I’ve earned my keeps and I’ve shown love and respect to everyone. It’s important to keep it kosher!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with KAYWHT – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am the face of my brand. I specialize in creativity of what I want to be present it to the people as an artist, singer, dancer, actress, etc. I guess you can call me some sort of a realist, feminist, humanitarian, and big hearted! I enjoy seeing smiles on people’s faces, I enjoy making others happy, and it makes me feel good to witness wonderful reactions to the music that I make. I am human just like everyone else, but I kind of see the bigger picture of every single thing that happens in my life which helps me to be sane and remain that way. The entertainment business, the industry world, whatever you wanna call it, it’s not something to play with. It is very cutthroat, so you have to make sure you do right by others in your journey. Karma is very real.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
It’s so many plan to choose from, which is why my mind goes faster than my physical form! I see myself being on a platform, and just using that platform to be a voice for people like me, especially black women. I am preparing myself to be one of the greatest all-around singers/entertainers in the world. With that, comes with a lot of internal healing, soul-searching, nurturing, so on and so forth. This world can be a very cruel place, so I plan to become a light to move a nation!
