Today we’d like to introduce you to Mauri Williams.
Mauri, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved flowers and gardening. It was about a year ago that I had become so engrossed with my gardening hobby and was being encouraged by friends, family, and passerby’s admiring my garden to consider making it into a career. I wasn’t really too sure about what that would look like or how it would happen but I knew that I wanted to grow cut flowers. After exhaustive research, I learned from most sources that it would take about three years before I would know if I was to be a successful flower farmer, so I decided to jump in. During the shelter in place order, I was enjoying my first spring. I was cutting buckets of flowers everyday and I wanted to share them.
For weeks, I had a neatly arranged schedule of contactless porch pick-ups and deliveries. Shortly thereafter, as fate would have it, I crossed paths with a lovely family who was actually looking for someone to take over their flower truck business. I couldn’t be happier to keep their flower truck dream alive and see what they do next. It’s been such an amazing opportunity to get my flowers out to the community in a safe way. Since launching the business during the pandemic, it really appealed to us that we could conduct business outdoors in open air, enforce social distancing, and have limited contact with any of the surfaces or products for our customers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Although I launched this business during the height of the pandemic, I have actually been pleasantly surprised and encouraged by all the support we have been shown from the local community. Depending on nature to provide for you has been humbling. Since I organically grow most of the flowers I sell, I am constantly at the mercy of the weather forecast, garden pests, and temperature swings. This being said, I would not have it any other way. The garden for me, is a metaphor for life. It teaches you patience, impermanence, and it brings you closer to nature and your roots. You learn to appreciate all of the happy accidents and not to dwell too long on the tragic mistakes.

We grow the majority of the flowers we provide right here in the cultural district of Fort Worth. Just as important as making a positive impact on the natural environment, we strive to improve the local community around us. Besides bringing joy and the brightness of blooms to our customers, we seek to spread joy to those who need it most. When you support our business, you allow us to donate flowers and the excitement of the flower truck to local charities like Meals on Wheels. We also offer sponsorship opportunities for those who want to help us make a bigger impact.
Building on and growing the wonderful foundation laid out by the Rotzoll family, who previously owned the business, we will be offering expanded services and availability. This includes regular participation at the Clearfork Farmers Market, custom arrangements, pick up and delivery, recurring flower delivery memberships, private parties and events, photo-shoots, and more! We hope to provide more opportunities and locations for you to enjoy the flower truck in the near future as well.
Nothing makes us more proud than being able to encourage and nurture the creative spirit of our customers. There is no prouder feeling than when we watch people create and express themselves through flowers. We are constantly blown away by the gorgeous arrangements and combinations that we see people putting together on the truck. We witness some truly amazing and untapped talent every time we go out. Another source of pride and bragging rights among our team centers around our “Farm Fresh” bunches. We spend a lot of time and effort carefully putting them together and selecting the colors and flowers. It’s definitely not a competition, but it sure feels good when someone picks your bouquet out of the bunch.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up as the middle child and only girl, I spent a lot of time outdoors playing with my brothers. We played in the woods building forts and spent many afternoons swimming in the creeks and lakes around Austin, Texas. I have always been very creative and busy. As a child, I always had projects and plans, eventually, I would always put them all on exhibitor recital upon completion. I loved putting on one-man plays, dance recitals, fashion shows, and hosting large teddy bear luncheons. I was a voracious painter and multimedia artist in addition to trying my hand at almost any sport available, even TaeKwondo. I still enjoy creative projects like making jewelry, I also still enjoy spending time on the lake and hosting parties, although I have mostly retired from my impromptu dance recitals.
