Meet LaKendra Dickerson of Glitzy Events in Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaKendra Dickerson.

LaKendra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Glitzy Events started out as a creative hobby that turned into a business. I planned my own wedding and fell in love with making sure all of the details were perfect! It wasn’t until I was asked to help decorate my cousin’s bridal shower that I found my love for planning and decorating again. I wanted to learn all that I could about the industry. I enrolled in the Lovegevity University and became a certified wedding and event planner in March 2019. In April 2019, was the first event for Glitzy Events. All of the time and effort of that day paved the standard for the rest of the weddings that I have done. Professionalism, timeliness, and client satisfaction are the goals for every event.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Since the beginning, I have been blessed with the best clients ever! So having them start the business was amazing. I wanted to work with more brides, but I wasn’t sure where exactly to look. I’m an introverted person, so reaching out to people was not a strong point. A good friend of mine told me about a radio station that promotes small businesses. One day I called in, nerves and all, and booked two more clients afterwards! I was over the moon! I was definitely glad I took the risk.

Glitzy Events is a wedding and event planning business that promises to provide stress-free events for clients. We are able to plan, decorate, and coordinate any event. We love to walk through the process from start to finish with our clients. At Glitzy Events, we pride ourselves on professionalism, punctuality, and a stress-free process that seeks to meet and exceed expectations of clients. Glitzy Events wants to make our client’s vision for their event become a reality and are dedicated to create the best day for our clients.

This business could not be possible first without God. He has guided me to this industry for a purpose. My husband, Steven Dickerson, who has cheered and continues to cheer me on from the beginning! My parents, brother, and assistants that continue to support me and help whenever I need them! My family, who allowed me to plan and decorate their weddings when I first started out!!! Everyone close to me has truly been a blessing!
