Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Smith.
Ciara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became pregnant at 21 years old. I was in my last year of college and I was nowhere near prepared to have a baby. My pregnancy was really tough and I felt alone. My friends were an amazing support system, but my boyfriend at the time was deployed and I attended school nine hours away from home. I journaled throughout my entire pregnancy because I wanted to have something for my little girl to read when she got older just in case she finds herself going through the same things.
I went through extremely bad Post-Partum depression and I didn’t really talk to anyone about it and that’s when it clicked. I never wanted another young mom to feel the way I felt. I wanted to share my stories and experiences in the hopes that other first-time moms or young moms know that they’re not alone! Writing helped me so much throughout my pregnancy and I wanted to build a community where moms felt like they could share their struggles as well!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I began this journey almost a year ago and I didn’t launch until June. I had ideas, but I never focused on them because I had stopped putting myself first. My only identity was “mom” for a while and I felt like I couldn’t focus on anything else.
We’d love to hear more about Mom 2 Mom Lifestyle Blog.
Mom 2 Mom Lifestyle is a blog where I share my mom’s experiences, the good and the bad! I write about tips and tricks I feel that every young or first-time mom should know. I also speak about the things that may be hard for other moms to share. I am transparent and open because I want to make sure they know there’s a community where they are supported. I am proud of the number of moms I have been able to reach or connect within a short amount of time! I feel like being open and honest about everything I’ve experienced or felt is what makes me different. A lot of moms are nervous about speaking on PPD or times when they feel like they’re struggling as a mom and I’m not! I’m here to show that motherhood is a constant balance and struggle.
What were you like growing up?
I have always been outgoing, vibrant, and super involved my entire life. I always keep a smile on my face and I’ve always been looked at as the “mom” of the friend group! I loved reading, writing, and talking (lol) and honestly, not much has changed.
