Today we’d like to introduce you to Mokahanna Sullivan.
Mokahanna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our story began a couple of years ago with the introduction of the Ketogenic Diet into our family. After dramatic results in energy, mood, clarity and weight management, we were sold! While our four children are not fully “keto,” there has been a noticeable change in their moods, behavior and grades since we scaled down sugars and processed foods.
One problem we found ourselves and others with was the lack of quick and easy foods that you can take anywhere, taste great, made us feel good and were all-natural. So we started making our own nutrition bars. We noticed that our bars were disappearing faster than we could make them. Our kids, neighbors, co-workers, extended family and all of their friends were soon wanting more! We decided to create Stoka Nutrition and go into production with the Stoka Bar!
A question we often get is “what is Stoka?” well, since so many products already have “keto” in the name and these bars are great for anybody wanting a healthy snack, we came up with our own word and it’s short for “Steve & Moka”! We have been humbled by the positive reviews and higher than expected demand. We hope you enjoy them too!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We built our own manufacturing facility and made all of our own products, which is not the norm. The majority of nutrition bar companies use co-packers to make their products and fulfillment companies to package and ship. There are always challenges and unforeseen obstacles and we’ve had our fair share! From construction to machinery, to suppliers to labor, there are no boring days, that’s for sure!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Stoka Nutrition story. Tell us more about the business.
We’re a small, family food manufacturing business. Our flagship products are Stoka Bar’s and Stoka Cereal.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We’ve had our share of both! I think timing, hard work and luck all play huge factors!
