Meet Azhar Azeez of Islamic RELEIF USA in Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Azhar Azeez.

Azhar, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started as a volunteer in 1995 with IRUSA and joined the group as professional staff in 2006. I was deeply touched and inspired by the important humanitarian work IRUSA does in US and around the world. It positively impacts millions of lives every year.

Has it been a smooth road?
In the beginning, we had to work with very limited resources. We used to drive for long distances across the country and used to stay at friends homes or mosques because we couldn’t afford to stay at hotels. We always worked with college and university students who as volunteers are the backbone of our organization.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Islamic RELEIF USA story. Tell us more about your organization.
I had overseen operations and fundraising’s in the past. I have traveled to more than 500 cities in 43 states across US. Currently, I oversee our interfaith collaboration, community alliances and partnerships.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see our work expand and grow on an ongoing basis. We are currently over a hundred million dollar organization, which includes both cash and in-kind donations.

Pricing:
