Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Jones and Michael Allen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aaron and Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started as two independent filmmakers who just wanted to collaborate with each other but ended up befriending each other in the process. Over the last five years, we’ve done A LOT of projects together, including short films, YouTube Skits, Music videos, and even a real estate venture.
“InternetCity” simply started in February of 2020 as another attempt at YouTube’s success. Originally it was just Michael reacting to random videos online. Eventually, because Aaron was always around, both of us ended up taking part in the reactions and that’s where we started to get lucky. We put out videos daily and sometimes even multiple in a day. About a month into recording, we came across a very raunchy but very funny video called “Wabbit Season”. We reacted to it, uploaded the reaction to YouTube, and that’s where things started to change for us.
From that video, we were able to analyze what the audience wanted from us, so of course, we continued to produce content to the best of our abilities. Now ten months later, we’ve grown the YouTube channel from 0 to over 150,000 subscribers. We’ve also been able to open a private studio to work out of and continue the journey. At this point, YouTube is our full-time job. We’re very thankful for the opportunity to be able to do something this for a living. It’s essentially like we just get to be ourselves for a living every single day.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road at all. Back in March, when we first started to get traction, our original channel was terminated. We didn’t let that stop us, though. We immediately started another channel and that channel was also terminated due to its connection to the first channel. Once again, even though we felt defeated, we did not stop. We started again (from zero) on April 7, 2020, and haven’t stopped since.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
“InternetCity” is a YouTube business. We are Content Creators. We specialize in making entertaining content for the web. As a company, we are currently most proud of our studio. It’s our own personal space to work and continue to be creative. Opening the studio is the best experience we’ve had this year. We believe our authenticity, genuine goofiness, and business acumen is what sets us apart from others. The way we are together on camera is the way we are together in real life.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Aaron – My favorite memories from childhood are the chances I had to enjoy anime, comics, and video games. I have a deep love for pop cultured and nerdcore content that can’t be explained.
Michael – My favorite memories include the time I got to spend playing outside in my childhood neighborhood. Doing anything from playing sports to recording random videos on old cameras.
