Today we’d like to introduce you to Michell Mateo.
Michell, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a professional licensed master hair colorist and hairstylist. I am certified as a curly hair specialist, balayage specialist, and certified organic hair colorist, with 18 years of experience in the hair industry. I worked in New York City for 15 years, where I received extensive training with trained professionals and top stylists in all aspects of the hair industry, including color and cutting in upscale salons. I have been featured in Avenue Magazine and New Beauty Magazine NYC as “Best Blowout in New York City” at Giannillo Salon.
I am always focused on continuing my education and continually seeking out advanced hair education courses to learn new skills and keep training on my existing ones. After my time in New York, I moved to the Boston area and became a certified organic hair colorist and holistic hair stylist at one of the leading organic pioneer salons in Massachusetts, “Sky Salon.” I received my Certified Organic Hair-colorist certification and I also received intense training with “All-Nutrient Professional certification” at the American Institute of Hair-color. With that, I enhanced my hair-color knowledge and design expertise to become a true master in this field. I am very passionate about administering my craft using non-toxic and organic products to better the hair, health of our clients and cooperate with the Earth.
Our Holistic Master Barber & partner Charlie Perez is a licensed professional barber with ten years of experience in NYC, where he mastered his barbering techniques with a diverse clientele from all around the world. His focus is to provide traditional and modern barbering and Holistic well-being, bringing you the best in grooming and men’s maintenance- all from one chair. We both relocated to Texas with our family and we love the weather, culture and we are very happy to provide our services!
We are located in Mattison Avenue Salon suite and spa in Frisco, Texas. Our mission is to provide our clients with the highest standards of artistry and technique, without the toxic processes and product standards in the hair care industry. We want to make people feel good about themselves inside and out, and to make sure we do everything to accommodate the needs of our client’s hair in a non-toxic environment, where we are highly trained with diversity in all aspects of hair.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. We started from scratch because we relocated here in Texas. We did networking and met so many wonderful people that support our business. Then the pandemic happen and we had to close down for three months, which really slowed things down for us, but just like any challenge, we overcame it and we are now back on track.

We specialize in certified organic hair color, master haircuts, and men’s grooming. What we are most proud of as a company is, that we use non-toxic products for our clients that are good for their health and the environment. We are a holistic hair salon, which means everything that we use is good for our guests, the environment and us.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like the best about Frisco is the quality of life and the people. So far, I do not dislike anything about Frisco.
