Daily Inspiration: Meet Nick Hoang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Hoang.

Hi Nick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
APERIL started off of a couple ideas to start a company. Once we were able to pinpoint what we wanted to represent and portray, we went to the drawing board for names. “Risk” is something we wanted to encourage people to do in life. Not in a bad way of course, but in a way that gets you out of your comfort zone to be completely yourself. We got a team of people who are creatives and represent that lifestyle, and we’ve been rockin ever since! To date, we have had our first launch in which we did everything ourselves. The website, design, marketing, music, photography, and modeling. We are using this brand to showcase our passions and work together to create a bigger vision. We aren’t pigeonholed when it comes to designs either, we just create whatever comes to mind at the time, with an attempt to add an experience with it. Our new and upcoming drop will be around the concept of “Dreams.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been far from smooth, but it has been nothing but enjoyable. We had struggles with finding the best vendor (shoutout to Lantern Ink), not falling behind schedule with designs and deadlines, ensuring that we don’t advertise too much at one time, as well as creating the website from the ground up. TONS of challenges and they just keep coming. However, we are blessed with these challenges because we have learned so much and it has made us become more equipped for future drops.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently do a lot… probably too much, to be completely honest. I started off with a passion in breakdancing, which I did for 8+ years. Which then introduced me to hip hop choreography in college. From there, dance lead me to venture into many other creative outlets such as music, art, and fitness! I would say I’m known for being a bboy a while back, or for my new endeavor, “ProjectNick,” which is aimed to help myself and others with their creative outlets. I am most proud of my team at APERIL and their willingness to be great. It is not often that you get to work with so many amazing and talented people who are all hungry to express. What sets myself apart from others would be my willingness to start new things and encourage others to as well.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality that attributes the most to my success would be my catalyst/activator mindset. I have a ton of ideas, and I don’t like to let them go without notice. I attempt and try all of them to see if it may be my new found love or path. When I get hooked… I go all out. And this in turn, creates success. However, I do believe that another important factor would be teamwork and collaboration as I love venturing into new things with others who are equally as passionate. This makes the journey more fun, and I love working with people.
