Today we’d like to introduce you to Chassity Spells.
Chassity, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At the top of 2015, my parents gave me the idea to start my own business. I had just been fired from my last job in New Orleans and at that time I knew working for someone else was no longer an option for me. So I looked into mental health (which was my degree). I learned everything needed in order to start my own mental health agency. Along the way I gained help from a few that helped start my business.
By December 2015, I was an official business owner. Now the money didn’t start coming in immediately. I still had government and state contracts needing to be proceeded and received. It was tons of work, and not to mention I was doing it all by myself. After a few years of having this full responsibility of owning this company, I found an amazing partner. My partner, Amir Douglas, came into the business in 2019 and she has helped grow our business tremendously. We now have two locations in Louisiana. This year my husband and I will be moving to the North Dallas area for his expansion of his restaurant. 2021 will be a great year for me and my family, and I’m just grateful that god is developing me personally as well as business wise. This year as well I have started my blog in which I speak about fashion, motherhood, being a CEO, and a new wife. I absolutely love fashion and all things beauty, and I just hope to continue to grow in the new city come summer 2021.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whhheewwww!!!!! Nothing has been easy. I have never truly had a smooth road, I honestly don’t know anyone who has. Some challenges I have faced are having a business at the age of 26. Most young ladies at that age aren’t business owners. So at times, it was difficult to find people that could relate to my “business” problems. So I had to find someone to help me gain knowledge and hang around older women. These women knew business and knew where I was trying to go. So joining local chambers within your city is helpful, or having a mentor in business. Those things are a huge necessity to the growth of my business. Another challenge I faced, I was a one woman show. I knew in order to grow my business I needed help. I needed someone with the same mindset as myself. I thank God daily, Amir Gouglas, was just that. She is a mother and a strong business minded woman as well. And it just works.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Unconditional Care Behavioral Center is a mental health agency that goes out into the community and provide counseling services to at risk teens and adults with mental health issues. We partner that with medication management, in which a doctor prescribes medication to clients if need be. UCBC loves to do community services in which this past Halloween we donated school supplies to the local radio station for a Halloween drive thru. On top of having the mental health business, I have started my personal blog. In the blog I enjoy all talks of fashion, beauty, motherhood, and lifestyle. I take to my Instagram page to display and show all aspects of my life with my new baby girl, winter, and my amazing husband, Darius. The thing I’m most proud of is just being a mother and a wife. Those two things have brought me great satisfaction and a lot to be proud and thankful for. A few things that set me apart is my big personality and love for everyone close to me. I appreciate everyone that have helped me or supported anything I have done. My current love for fashion and styling is taking off as well. I may tap into that new talent more this year.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Back in the day, I played basketball. So my favorite childhood would be AAU tournaments with my old teammates. We traveled to Florida for Nationals Summer 2005. That team of females (that I still talk with to this day) are very special to me and will never be forgotten. We shared a lot of memories that I would give anything to relive.
