Today we’d like to introduce you to Vee Davis.
Hi Vee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After working more than 14 years closely with my mom Interior Designer Lula Toliver. I decided to channel all of that experience and talent toward a new venture: Fashion Wardrobe Styling and Image Consulting. I started heavily networking in DFW, going to different fashion shows, styling free photoshoots, anything I could do to get my name out there. I didn’t ask for handouts or help I did it all on my own, With consistent hard work, dedication and focus. I’m blessed to be where I’m at today, along with my two other businesses I started The EnV Brand in 2017, a fashion styling and image consulting firm. The EnV Brand is designed to help individuals define their own unique image, style and re-create their looks by streamlining, supplementing and styling their wardrobe.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not see looking from the outside in you would think it’s so easy and it’s not it’s very hard you have to build strong relationships with your clients, showrooms, photographers, designers the list goes on and on as they say there’s no elevator to success you have tot take the stairs. I’ve had times where everything was smooth and hard very hard times for example my client (Mignon Von) she plays Danni on Tyler Perry’s Sistas she called me and she wanted to do a press shoot but I had one week to get an entire team together all while doing that I’m calling showrooms, designers sending out mass emails for pull request in the end the shoot came together so perfectly but it was so stressful not to add the designer for her main looks literally stopped answering his phone a hour before the shoot he was a complete NO SHOW that’s why I always have a backup plan. Nobody is going to make me look bad because at the end of the day my name is all I have.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Fashion Enthusiast | Image Consultant | Fashion/Style Expert | Creative Director. What sets me apart from others is I don’t try to fit in with everybody my style is unique, my personality is unmatched and I try to help everyone I can because I know how hard this industry can be. So if I can help someone elevate and get a bit closer to their dreams my job is done.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’ve had mentors very strong mentors I think it’s necessary to have a positive light guide you along the way, I’m also a heavy networker I mean there’s so much power in networking you may get a million NO’S before you get a YES just stay on track and keep pushing.
